I spent the day traveling by bus, train, and London underground before finally reaching Reading, home of my good friend Lissie. It was quite a long day of travel, but I managed to get a few pictures of the countryside, and I explored London for about half an hour which wasn't nearly long enough.
London, I'll be back in a week or so. Get ready.
My short foray into the streets of London.
Finally I made it to Reading. Ignore the reflection of the station lights.
Day 24 (4/14)
We spent the day with the twins at a traditional old English house and gardens called Grey's Court. It was such a lovely day, I was even walking around without a hoodie for a bit. Perfect for being outside and letting the little ones roam.
In the evening we took Noah and Emilia to a park near their house. It was wonderful to be around little ones again, even as exhausting as it might've been sometimes.
After that they were a bit worn out, so Noah cuddled up to me while Lissie made dinner.
Emilia has no fear. She'll climb anything, and leap off anything as well. We had a lot of fun playing chase and peek-a-boo.
Noah is a bit more reserved. He just wanted to smell the flowers, and he likes to know the names of everything. We had a couple of good cuddle sessions.
Day 25 (4/15)
We had reserved tickets for Stonehenge, but we woke up and it was pouring rain! We decided to go anyway, and it was a bit of an adventure for sure. Noah wasn't feeling well, so he was only happy if someone was holding him, and Emilia didn't want to ride in the buggy if the rain cover was on so we ended up carrying her as well.
Luckily, we all survived, and while it was a tad stressful, I think we still ended up having a good day. I didn't take many pictures, as our hands were quite full with the littles, but I think these capture our day pretty well.
In the evening after the little ones were asleep, Lissie, Marco, and I had Indian food delivered and it was delicious! It was so nice to catch up, and learn some new things as well.
Poor little Noah was feeling miserable.
I think this is the rainiest it's been since my arrival almost 4 weeks ago.
Today Marco graciously offered to watch the two littles so Lissie and I could have some girl time.
We drove down to Henley, a cute little town on the Thames. The rain let up just in time, so we went for a stroll around some of the shops. Lissie told me I had to try cream tea while I was here, so we found a café that offered cream tea and sandwiches.
Cream tea is, apparently, tea or coffee served with scones, a sort of whipped cream topping, and jam. It was delicious, but I was defeated! I couldn't finish mine.
The river Thames
The English certainly do love their gardens.
Lissie and I!
On to Bath: the home of Jane Austen and some pretty cool Roman baths (hence the name).
